Quand ils sont rentrés chez eux, après un weekend pluvieux qu’ils avaient passé enfermés dans un hôtel du bord de mer, les membres de la famille Deschamps ont découvert leur maison dans un état indescriptible.	When they returned home, after a rainy weekend they had spent locked in a hotel by the sea, the Deschamps family members discovered their home in an indescribable state.
En leur absence, des cambrioleurs avaient mis la maison sens dessus dessous.	In their absence, burglars had turned the house upside down.
Les meubles anciens avaient disparu ainsi que l’ordinateur, la télévision, les bijoux de madame et bien d’autres choses encore.	The old furniture was gone as well as the computer, the television, the jewels of Madame and many other things.
Quand les policiers sont venus constater les dégâts, ils ont remarqué que les cambrioleurs étaient tout naturellement passés par la porte d’entrée que les Deschamps avaient omis de fermer au moment de leur départ.	When the police came to see the damage, they noticed that the burglars had naturally gone through the door that the Deschamps had failed to close at the time of their departure.
L’assureur, averti de ce petit détail, a informé les Deschamps que, compte tenu de leur négligence, il ne pouvait pas les indemniser pour ce sinistre.	The insurer, aware of this small detail, informed the Deschamps that, given their negligence, he could not compensate them for this incident.
Le weekend à la mer avait été catastrophique, le retour à la maison l’était encore plus!	The weekend at the sea had been catastrophic, the return to the house was even more!
