French poetry:

French English
Petite pluie d’été, Little summer rain,
Petite pluie que j’aime Little rain that I love
Tombe sur les ramiers, Falls on the ramiers,
Tombe sur les troènes,Tombe sur les brebis Falls on the privet,Falls on the sheep
Rentrant du pâturage, Coming in from the pasture,
Tombe sur moi aussi Falls on me too
Qui lui tends mon visage.Puis elle prend la nuit Who hold out my face to her. Then she takes the night
Doucement par la manche Gently by the sleeve
Et doucement se penche And gently leans
Sur la route qui luit.Petite pluie que j’aime On the gleaming road.Little rain I love
Petite pluie d’amour Little rain of love
Efface les troènes, Erases the privet,
Les ramiers, The ramiers,
le grand jour, the big day,
Efface les brebis, Erase the sheep,
Efface les visages Erase the faces
Et laisse le village And leave the village
Entrer seul dans la nuit. Enter the night alone.
