C’était un samedi matin ensoleillé et lumineux, une journée qui ne demandait qu’à partir à l’aventure.	It was a sunny, bright Saturday morning, a day that practically begged for adventure.
J’avais environ sept ans lorsque je me suis approchée du nouveau vélo rose argenté qui m’attendait patiemment dans le garage.	I was about seven years old when I approached the new silver-pink bike waiting patiently for me in the garage.
Mon père se tenait à côté de moi avec un sourire rassurant. Il a réglé la selle, vérifié les freins et s’est assuré que tout était en ordre avant de me remettre le casque. La sécurité avant tout, insistait-il toujours.	My father stood beside me with a reassuring smile. He adjusted the seat, checked the brakes making sure everything was in order before handing me the helmet. Safety first, he always insisted.
En prenant une grande inspiration, je me suis installée sur la selle. Papa se tenait derrière moi, avec ses mains puissantes tenant l’arrière du vélo. “Garde l’équilibre et pédale lentement”, m’a dit-il.	Taking a deep breath, I settled into the seat. Dad was standing behind me, his strong hands holding the back of the bike. “Keep your balance and pedal slowly,” he said.
J’ai serré le guidon et j’ai senti le métal froid sous mes doigts. Avec une légère poussée de papa, j’ai commencé à avancer, j’ai vacillé, j’ai lutté pour trouver mon centre de gravité.	I gripped the handlebars tightly and felt the cold metal under my fingers. With a gentle push from Dad, I started forward, I wobbled, struggling to find my center of gravity.
Mais un miracle s’est produit. Alors que je me concentrais sur la route, mes tremblements ont commencé à s’atténuer et le vélo s’est stabilisé sous moi.	But then a miracle happened. As I focused on the road ahead, my wobbles began to soften and the bike steadied beneath me.
J’ai pédalé plus vite, sentant le vent passer sur mon visage, souriant d’une oreille à l’autre. “Regarde, papa, j’y arrive”. j’ai crié.	I pedaled faster, feeling the wind rush past my face, grinning from ear to ear. “Look, Dad, I’m getting there,” I shouted.
À la fin de la journée, j’étais épuisée mais heureuse. J’avais réussi et je me sentais libre et indépendante.	By the end of the day, I was exhausted but happy. I had made it and felt free and independent.
Les jours suivants, je pouvais déjà courir à toute vitesse dans l’allée, m’entraînant à tourner et à éviter des obstacles imaginaires.	Over the next few days I could already run full speed down the driveway, practicing turns and dodging imaginary obstacles.
À partir de ce moment-là, le vélo est devenu mon ami fidèle, m’emmenant dans d’innombrables aventures tout au long de mon enfance.	From that moment on, the bicycle became my faithful friend, taking me on countless adventures throughout my childhood.
