R: Aujourd’hui, nous sommes jeudi. | Today is Thursday. |
M: Merci, et quelle est la date du concert ? | Thank you, and what is the date of the concert? |

M: Zut, c’est demain! Alors, je vais finir rapidement mes devoirs. À tout à l’heure. | oh heck it is tomorrow!, so I am going to finish quickly my homework. See you later. |
R: Oke, salut. | Okay, bye. |
Expressions avec la date et les jours de la semaine
1. Aujourd’hui, nous sommes lundi 7 septembre 2015 (Deux Mille Quinze).
2. Hier c’était vendredi, aujourd’hui c’est samedi et demain ce sera dimanche.
3. Aujourd’hui nous sommes mercredi, hier nous étions mardi et demain nous serons
To say ‘year’, we have 2 words: “un an” and “une année”.
With a number use “an”, not “année” – il y a trois ans = 3 years ago.
“Année” is more common in expressions such as “l’année prochaine” (next year), “l’année dernière” (last year), “toute l’année” (all year long)…
In French, when dates are written as numbers they follow the sequence day/month/year, which may prove confusing to english speakers – especially the dates below the 12th of the month. You write Frebruary 9th as 2/9 in English, but in French it’s 9/2 (same in spanish)
